From removing the unit from the packaging to configuration, it takes less than half an hour to install and set up the Spectra T50e LTO library. The small-form 4U library can be rack-mounted or used on a tabletop. AutoInstall loads all software options, license keys, and the current firmware version automatically. The T50e provides a choice of connectivity options—either direct-connect Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) or Fibre Channel—and is compatible with all major backup packages and operating systems.
The T50e is compatible with most channel interfaces and networking protocols, ensuring the best possible data transfer performance. It is also compatible with all industry standard operating systems including Windows, Linux, UNIX and Mac OS, and seamlessly integrates with the major backup applications.
With support for multiple connectivity protocols as well as all major backup software packages and operating systems, T50e libraries fit easily into any environment. The T50e's Shared Library Services lets data centers implement simple, integrated partitioning, so that a single library appears to the SAN as multiple libraries. Unlike other partitioning solutions that involve complicated and expensive external partitioning servers, network connections, and proprietary client software, you can easily partition the Spectra T50e library using the library's BlueScale interface.
Adding capacity to your T50e is simple with Capacity on Demand (CoD). Start with as few as 10 slots, and as your business expands add more capacity in increments of 5 tape slots. Adding tape drives and increasing performance is simple with easy-to-configure slide-in drives. This flexible scalability in capacity and performance protects your investment and ensures that your Spectra tape library is upgradable with the latest in technological advances. Additionally, Spectra's TranScale™ growth path allows you to expand to a larger library with the same interface and features—but with more capacity and performance.
